Youth Space

Espacio Joven AMAFE is an unprecedented and innovative initiative in which young people who have had a serious mental health problem receive early support.

Most mental disorders occur between the ages of 14 and 30. For this reason, in order to act as soon as possible, the Association is launching this project that today serves more than 60 young people.

The idea behind Espacio Joven is that it is easier to recover when less is lost. And it is that the appearance of a mental disorder usually entails a break with the line of life.

It is not just a matter of symptoms, mental health problems generate a strong social rejection that translates into isolation and loneliness when support is most needed.

For all these reasons, to avoid chronification and stagnation, in addition to psychotherapeutic support, we act especially in the social and community spheres.

In aspects such as friends, partner, family, studies or starting work. Basically in everything that allows young people to continue leading the life they want to lead.

But the innovative aspects of the project are not limited only to what we do or with whom or at what times... we must also highlight the how...

And it is that it does not make sense to make a program of activities for young people without them being part of the creative process.

Regularly, meetings and assemblies are held where, together, the different workshops, outings and activities to be carried out are planned, giving value to their criteria.

In short, this project helps young people to believe in themselves again, to understand themselves better and to grow, beyond symptoms and disorders, towards a life project that really fulfills them.

Acting where it is necessary to act

There is a transversal impact on other fundamental aspects, such as the elaboration of the psychotic experience, the establishment of an occupational balance and facilitating exchange spaces in which to share experiences

Integrating who integrates

Espacio Joven's interventions maintain contrasting evidence, but always within the preferences and indications of its participants.

It makes no sense to make programming attractive to young people and encourage their proactivity without involving them in the creative process.

Informing those who do not know

AMAFE puts the needs of young people who have experienced a first psychotic outbreak in contact with society as a whole, favoring their inclusion as full-fledged citizens. You will be able to discover in different points of the web some examples of awareness that we have promoted from AMAFE.
