Family care service

ATTENTION TO FAMILIES

The needs of each family are very diverse. For this reason, the different Services of the Association provide guidance and care individually and in groups, adapting to the specific circumstances of each case. Thus, they are oriented, informed and accompanied in the recovery and adjustment process, so that the entire family unit can improve their quality of life.

In the case of group intervention, efficient spaces for meeting and exchanging experiences are created where the family members themselves have the opportunity to actively participate in the therapeutic process, thus improving their quality of life and the well-being of each of its members.

Family Schools

It is normal that, when receiving a diagnosis, we find ourselves with uncertainty and ignorance about what we have just been told. The AMAFE Family Schools are characterized by being programs of between 8 and 10 sessions spread over 2 months with 4 fundamental objectives: mimprove knowledge of the disease, orOptimize the degree of social and community participation regarding the search for resources for their relatives, promote a more suitable family climate and rreduce the subjective family burden.

Mutual Aid Groups

“Mutual aid is a way of giving and receiving help based on basic principles of respect, shared responsibility, and mutual agreement about what is useful.” (Mead, Hilton, and Curtis).
Mutual aid groups are based on using the knowledge and experience of those who have gone through different difficulties to help and support other people who experience the same situations.
Currently, AMAFE has the following active groups:
- Self-help from relatives.
- Self-help of relatives of young people.
- Expert patient self-help.
- Young expert patient self-help.
- Self-help from siblings.
